The Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning in the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is accepting applications for an open-rank, full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Urban and Regional Planning track.
We are seeking a leading researcher who exemplifies state-of-the-art engagement with urban and regional planning scholarship.
The Technion’s track is the sole accredited Urban Planning program in Israel. We pride ourselves on high-quality education, rigorous and innovative research, and professional engagement with the policy and planning community consisting of diverse stakeholders in a pluralistic society.
We offer professional and research-based Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs, often engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations with other faculties at the Technion and beyond.
The ideal candidate will display potential as a teacher and researcher.
They will have a proven track record in conducting quality, ground-breaking research in one or more of the diverse fields related to spatial planning.
The candidate will be expected to teach in the core planning curriculum (studio, seminars, and relevant courses), supervise Master’s and Ph.D. students, and participate in track, faculty, and university-wide activities.
Teaching may be conducted in English. Strong applicants should:
- Hold a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning or related fields
- Have high proficiency in English; proficiency in spoken Hebrew and Arabic is an advantage
- Demonstrate exemplary scholarship, including high-quality publications and a proven ability to obtain funding (commensurate with their rank, experience, and discipline)
- Demonstrate experience or potential for teaching/understanding of modern pedagogy principles and have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a professional and collegial manner, and to build rapport with all levels of academic and professional staff within a diverse and inclusive working environment
- Display interest and track record in one or more of (but not limited to) the following areas of urban and regional planning: Planning theory, Community engagement, Data science in planning, Housing and real estate
